IITians are a decreasing number of top CEOs
A study by EMA Partners has revealed that IITians and IIM graduates make up only 28% of CEOs of India’s top 200 companies. This percentage is much smaller than it was in the past, and the possible reasons are interesting: as the economy grew rapidly in the 2000s, the number of graduates from the IITs remained largely stagnant for much of that decade, leading to other institutions like BITS to pick up some of the demand. Additionally, the best graduates nowadays join consulting firms that have a completely different kind of corporate ladder than the old FMCG companies.
