IITian Subra Suresh is amongst the 16 people inducted into 3 US National Academies

Dr. Subra Suresh (IITM77), the current Carnegie Mellon President, has been elected to the Institute of Medicine (IOM), putting him amongst the small handful of people in US history to be a part of all three national academies (National Academy of Engineering, National Academy of Sciences and IOM).

He is currently the only US university president with that honor.

His IOM induction is due to his research into cell mechanics related to malaria, blood diseases and certain types of cancers.

In addition to these accolades, Dr. Suresh has been elected to the Indian National Academy of Engineering, Indian National Science Academy and Indian Academy of Sciences and various science academies in Spain, Germany, Sweden and the U.S. He is also an elected fellow or honorary member of all the major materials research societies in the U.S. and India.

Honestly, it would be quicker to make a list of prestigious institutions he is NOT affiliated with!
